Bash Fighter
A downloadable game
Bash Fighter is a free, open-source platform fighter built around chaotic 20-player free-for-all matches instead of 1v1. It runs entirely in the browser: no download, no account, no plugin. Play it at bashfighter.com
Join a lobby and you are dropped into a 20-fighter brawl. If there are not 20 humans yet, bots fill the empty seats, so a match always starts and still feels like a real fight. As the match goes on the arena boundary closes in, doing pressure damage rather than killing on contact, which squeezes the survivors into closer and closer combat.
Eight fighters with different weights and movesets, five stages, items and hazards, keyboard and touch controls, and reconnection if your connection drops mid-match. Besides the default Last Fighter Standing, the server rotates in Timed Brawl (most knockouts in three minutes) and Stocks (two lives each).
The whole thing is open source under AGPL-3.0 at github.com/BashEntertainment/bash-fighter. The simulation is deterministic fixed-point and runs identically on the server and in your browser, which is also what makes replays possible from nothing but a seed and an input log. Bug reports and pull requests are welcome; there is a good-first-issue label and an architecture document written to be read in about twenty minutes.
